Bob Wilson

photojournalist

Hello! I am a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a major in photojournalism. I prefer to work in black and white because I believe I have more control over the final image than with color. That is why most of the photographs on this web site are black and white. I have included some color images, however, to demonstrate that I can produce in that medium as well. Although I use Nikon 35mm equipment almost exclusively for my photojournalistic work, I also work in the 6x6cm and 4x5in formats when the situation requires it. If desired, I can write articles to accompany my photographs.

Outside of photography and photojournalism, I have extensive experience and a long term interest in aviation. I am a licensed pilot and have flown all over the world. In addition to aviation, I have an interest in labor-management relations, computers and the internet, oenology and viticulture, golf, and the military, especially the U.S. Navy. I am an experienced traveler and have visited and worked in Japan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Cuba, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, Brussels, and France. I am an unabashed francophile, and I travel to France several times a year. I am not fluent, but I speak and read french well enough to live and/or work in a french speaking community with little difficulty.

I prefer to work with non time critical assignments so I can devote the time to ensure that the subject is well covered and the photographs are more than adequate. If required, I can produce photographs in a restricted time frame. The gallery of photographs from Tours, France is an example of that. Approximately ten hours and six rolls of film were expended to take the photographs. You can extrapolate the quality and completeness of the results when I am given more time.

When making an assignment, please advise whether you want black and white or color, finished prints or contacts, and transparencies or negatives.
